12v Led Dimmer Circuit Diagram

Using a dimmer with 12v mr16 led spotlights.
12v led dimmer circuit diagram. While individual led bulbs are completely unharmed by being turned on and off rapidly the internal circuitry of the spotlight unit does not appear to like it at all. Ic1 is a dual timer. This is a simple led dimmer that has only 2 components. Lets start with the series part of the circuit.
Lets say we want to run a total of 9 cree xp l leds at 700ma each with a voltage of 12v dc. Fewer are also possible of course. The occasion for this project was retrofitting an illuminated wall picture with led backlighting. The total output current of lm317 is 1 5a due to which we have used a separate current limiting resistor with each led which will protect them on the maximum current output from the ic.
Now rotate the potentiometer. How does the 12v strip dimmer circuit works. The light dimmer circuit that we finally arrived at can easily drive 6 lamps of 10 w each. The circuit described above cannot be used with 12v mr16 led spotlights of the type we sell in the reuk shop.
The forward voltage of each led at 700ma is 2 98v dc. The potentiometer is connected with the mosfet s gate pin. As soon as i applied led power the brightness blinded me much brighter than the original t20 fluorescent tube so i knew immediately that a dimmer control was required. Schematic of the led brightness control circuit.
The circuit can be operated with 9v to 12v dc but you can also operate it with 6v by changing the values of resistors r2 to r11 to 290 ohms. Note that the whole circuit will also work from 6 v. L1 and s1 can be adapted to suit a smaller current if required. One is an n channel mosfet and a potentiometer.
